Background

Ganesh began his career in senior management roles at Wipro, Bharti British Telecom, and HCL before turning to entrepreneurship.

His first venture, IT&T, grew into one of India's top multi-vendor IT service and support companies and was acquired by iGate in 2003. He followed that with CustomerAsset, a pioneering BPO and call center business acquired by ICICI Bank — now publicly listed as First Source Solutions. Marketics, a data analytics BPO he founded next, was acquired by WNS in 2007 for $63M.

His fourth venture, TutorVista, became one of India's most prominent edtech companies before being acquired by global education leader Pearson in 2011 for $213M.

Across these four ventures, Ganesh built companies that spanned IT services, customer operations, analytics, and education — each culminating in a successful exit.

Outside of entrepreneurship, he served as a Member of the Board of Governors at IIM Calcutta, where he oversaw technology, new curriculum design, and infrastructure projects. He conceptualized and set up the IIM Calcutta Innovation Park & Incubation Cell, serving as its Founder Director.

He held an Independent Directorship at Aditya Birla Idea Payments Bank, an RBI-regulated banking company, contributing to technology, strategy, and audit functions. He also served as Director of the Domestic Workers Sector Skill Council, a Section 8 company under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and NSDC.

Ganesh holds a postgraduate degree from IIM Calcutta and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University, and has received the Distinguished Alumnus award from both institutions.

He was recognized as one of the "Iconic Entrepreneurs of India" by the National Knowledge Commission and was a nominee for The Economic Times Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2015.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ganesh co-founded a social initiative that provided 65 lakh meals to migrant and daily wage workers across five cities in March 2020. During the second wave, he worked to provide free oxygen support to COVID patients and collaborated with state governments to upgrade healthcare infrastructure facilities. His non-profit, Bahaar Foundation, focuses on creating micro-entrepreneurs in the healthcare and agriculture sectors.
